As Bulacan Tech Expo (BTX) opened its doors on September 29 in Vista Mall Malolos, it signaled the growing interest to put the province in the map becoming the country's next Esports hub.
The inaugural BTX 2023 delivered on this goal by catering three of the biggest Esports titles as among its major competitive events namely: Valorant, DOTA 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
The integration of the BTX Esports Xcellence Cup was spearheaded by BulSU-TOP and its president from the College of Arts and Letters, Clyde Jan Pascual.
Drawing 'first bloods'
On its Day 1, team Atubao claimed the championship two games to one against Aces Esports and ruled the MLBB scene.
On the 2nd day, a best-of-3 finals series for both Valorant and DOTA 2 were played.
Tourna Tourna Lang dominated the first game, finishing 13-5, while Double U Wanter fought and won a grueling 28-round game to force a tiebreaker, which was unfortunately cut from the agenda for the day due to time constraints.
For the DOTA 2 finals that started at around 7 PM, Kai pulverized team XDDD's spirits by drubbing them on a 32-11 victory on the 1st match.
The 2nd game was no different, with Kai pulling up early and winning the DOTA 2 finals against team XDDD with a score of 38-11.
All these competitors were crowned as BTX's maiden winners, bringing home 10,000 pesos, and all considered to be among Bulacan's top-specced teams.
Capitalizing on a great start
Meanwhile, the first edition of the BTX was a good start to showcase Bulakenyos' thirst for gaming, both in mobile and PC.
The organizers were able to pit various teams from the province that culminated in a finals inside Vista Mall Malolos.
It hopes to put Bulacan on the map to being another esports hub here in the Philippines where great talents are to be discovered and be at the leading edge of forging sustainable careers in esports and gaming in the future.
At the forefront of this was organizer BulSU-TOP, an organization that looks to bolster its foothold to cultivate the next gaming superstars.
BulSU-TOP's Esports arm was able to secure crucial partnerships with top gaming clubs and sponsors like AcadArena and recently, Dark League Studios.
