The Guiguinto Dance Troupe secured the coveted first-place title at the Indakan sa Kalye 2023 street dance competition, which took place on September 13th at the Capitol Bulacan Gymnasium.

Clad in stunning nature-inspired outfits and traditional barongs, the group showcased the vibrant Halamanan Festival in a 7-minute performance, captivating both the audience and judges alike.

As the fourth performing group during the showcase, the Guiguinto dance troupe received the loudest, roaring applause from the crowd when they entered the gymnasium.

Mx. Russell Valenzuela, College of Sports, Exercise and Recreation (CSER) faculty member, served as the choreography director of the group.

The contest featured street performers coming from Malolos, Santa Maria, San Jose Del Monte City, Guiguinto, and Angat, as the showcase started late in the afternoon.

The Malolos troupe dazzled the audience as they kicked off the show, charming the crowd with vibrant outfits and elegant moves, proudly displaying their 'Bulakenyo' spirit as they earned third place with the Piyesta Republika.

Moreover, showcasing their locale’s cultural symbols with bamboo costumes and whatnot, street dancers from Angat represented the Gulayan Festival, while the Santa Maria dance troupe performed the Chicharon Festival, but did not make it into the finalists–both earned the consolation prize at the end of the show.

The street performers marched their way, starting at the Malolos Cathedral, through the early afternoon heat, with an audience mostly composed of random passersby and road workers.
