‘Bakit Journ?’ moves to September –BulSU JS

by Althea Torres August 24, 2023

The BulSU Journalism Society (JournSoc) pushed back its orientation program for first-year journalism students to September 15 from its original date of August 23. Dubbed "Bakit Journ?" is an annual event the Organization dedicates to press neophytes in preparation for their four-year journey in college and out of the university.

It will be held at the College of Arts and Letters Audio-Visual Room from 1 PM to 3 PM. JournSoc President Sofia Lou Magtalas told TC the event will try to answer, "Bakit nga ba Journ ang kursong nararapat para sa 'yo?"

(Why is journalism the suited course for you?)

Some field practitioners invited (to be announced) will share the challenges and endeavors of journalists, according to Magtalas. Magtalas also assured that "Bakit Journ?" will give better realizations to soon-to-be journalists to continue on their track despite the odds. "Hindi lang para sa sarili, kung hindi para na rin sa kinabukasan ng bayan," she added. (Not only for oneself, but for the future of the country.)

Additionally, "Bakit Journ?" is open to other year levels as long as they are registered. But priority is given to first-year students due to the limited space, Magtalas noted.

Students who wish to attend can register through this link until September 5. The drop box for the required printed parental consent can be found at the CAL Center starting on August 23.
